Updating means change. Change can be difficult at times. But change can be exciting also! This is a very exciting time in our lives. Tom and I started our business, Lyon Capital Strategies, in 1995. We had desktop computers and DSL internet but no idea as to what the future would bring in the way of the internet and mobile devices. No one did. It is truly amazing the extent to which we do business using these capabilities now.
When we first started our accounting and financial planning practice, we worked solely with local clients who we could see and talk to in person; many times at their places of business. Obviously, this is still a big part of our business but now we communicate regularly via email, text, and voice mail. Even an occasional Google Hangout. We have had a website for a number of years that was basically a brochure. It was there to let people know who we are and that we are real.
Well, times have changed, and I think for the better. “The world is our oyster”, as the saying goes. There are no longer local boundaries. We can communicate with people all over the world. This can be done with a living, breathing website and blog. It can be done through Social Media such as Twitter, Linked-In, Facebook, You Tube and Google Plus. People can get to know us and we can get to know them with just a few keystrokes. Amazing!!
